Joint Entrance Examination(JEEMAIN)
Admission criteria to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, Other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, Institutions funded by participating State Governments, and other Institutions shall include the performance in the class 12th or equivalent qualifying Examination and in the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main). The Paper-1 (B. E./B. Tech.) of JEE (Main) will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programmes offered by the IITs.
About 1,50,000 top candidates based on the performance of JEE (Main), (Paper 1 (B. E./B. Tech.)) (including all categories) will be eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in consecutive years irrespective of whether or not he/she passed the Qualifying Examination.

Application Procedure for JEE (Main) & JEE(Advanced)
In order to appear in JEE (Main) and JEE (Advanced) , the candidates are required to apply only online The online submission of particulars, uploading of scanned photograph, signature and thumb impression may be made at JEE (Main) website. The candidates should supply all the required details while filling up the online form. On submission of details, a Confirmation Page with Application No. shall be generated. Candidates are required to take printout of Confirmation Page and keep it for reference.
Instructions for Computer Based Examination
“The test will start exactly at the time mentioned in the Admit Card and an announcement to this effect will be made by the invigilator. The test will be of 3 hrs duration The test paper will be consisting questions of Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics and all questions will have equal weightage. There will be three parts in the question paper consisting of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics having equal weightage. Each question is allotted 4 (four) marks for the correct response. 1/4 (one fourth) marks i.e. one mark will be deducted for indicating incorrect response of each question. No deduction from the total score will be made if no response is indicated for a question. There is only one correct response for each question out of four responses given. All calculations/writing work are to be done only in the rough sheet provided at the centre and on completion of the test candidates must hand over the rough sheets to the invigilator on duty in the Room/Hall.”

By depositing fee in cash in the specified banks through e-challan generated during the online filling of application form.
Instructions for Applying Online
Before filling up the application form the candidate should have a scanned image of his/her photograph, signature and thumb impression. These scanned images are to be uploaded during the submission of application form. Polaroid photos are not acceptable. Candidates with unclear photograph are liable to be rejected. Candidates may keep 6-8 identical photographs in reserve for use at the time of entrance examination, Counseling and Admission.
